About Simulated Emergency Tests (SET)

Simulated emergency tests are conducted for many reasons including:

  • Validating plans for various scenarios
  • Collecting information about Region 1 ARES member's capabilities
  • Verifying that radios are programmed in such a way that all communications channels can be used
  • Testing communications paths, especially simplex and DMR

Currently there are plans to hold a SET every three months.  Additional exercises for testing HF and packet communications will be held.
