About Simulated Emergency Tests (SET)
Simulated emergency tests are conducted for many reasons including:
- Validating plans for various scenarios
- Collecting information about Region 1 ARES member's capabilities
- Verifying that radios are programmed in such a way that all communications channels can be used
- Testing communications paths, especially simplex and DMR
Currently there are plans to hold a SET every three months. Additional exercises for testing HF and packet communications will be held.
